Grama is in town

Mom came to visit for a week this summer. With her help we knocked out Penny's potty training! We also got to go for a backstretch tour of the race track. I had heard this was a neat activity and we really enjoyed it. I didn't realize everything that was on the "other side" of the racetrack. The horses are so beautiful and we learned the racetrack "ponies" are the horses that guide/ride next to the race horses to keep them calm. The girls loved having her in town and of course it went by too quickly!
Penny figured out how to swing on her tummy (after a few tip overs).  Now the girls can both swing on the swing set while we enjoy lounging on the deck! For a few minutes, at least ;)
A beautiful morning at the track.  Enjoying breakfast while the horses do their morning workouts.  Probably about 8:45am?

Two of the "ponies".
View of the Grandstand from the backstretch
The barns.  I forget which trainer's barn this was.
Where they cool down the horses after they run.  The sometimes walk them for an hour to cool them off!
The gate.
