The Big Apple

We got a wild hair on Saturday after Alli's swim class to do a last minute overnight-er in New York City.  We literally decided to do the trip at 10am, drove home and quickly packed (while Eric did some work) and arrived 10 minutes before our train departure, whew!  I forgot how easy trains are for traveling.  We booked our hotel room on the ride down and were good to go.  We decided to stay close to Central Park and just focus on that area of the city since it would be such a short trip.  We enjoyed walking, a subway ride, the train ride, a carriage ride and taxi ride.  Alli was quite excited to see a taxi (and then another one, and another one, and another one).  We ended up walking to Central Park, visited the Central Park Zoo, spent time at FAO Schwartz, tried NYC soft pretzels, enjoyed a horse & carriage ride and then walked back to the hotel and headed out for our train ride home.  When we got home Alli said "Mom, I didn't get to see the Statue of Liberty!".

We had the car to ourselves for the first stretch of the train ride down (it was about 3.5 hr ride).

Heading into Central Park Zoo.

Trying to get a good family shot - oh well, at least you can see some of the city!

FAO Schwartz was fun for all of us!

Touching every single rock in the rock section of the store

On the train ride down, we asked Alli what she wanted to see in NYC.  She said "a statue of a cat".  Hmm.  We lucked out with that one (although a kinda gruesome statue!)

The Lego Statue of Liberty...I think I forgot to tell her what she was standing next to for the picture.

Hiding amongst all the cool animals

Horse and buggy ride
